Abstract
This paper aims to investigate Keigo (Japanese honorifics) in grammar explanations of Japanese textbooks which arepublished in Thailand, focusing on Keigo’s definitions, categorizations, and examples. The results of the research showed that the definitions and categorizations of Keigo in Japanese textbooks have not adequately conformed to Bunkacho in some aspects. In addition, the examples of Keigoin those textbooks did not have enough explanation to understand the context of their usages. This research attempts to contribute better understanding of Keigoand indicate the problems of Keigo as grammar in textbooks to minimize causes of misunderstanding among Japanese language learners.
