Abstract
This study aimed to examine the impact of integrating AI tools to support students in their English essay writing endeavors, alongside exploring innovative approaches to enhancing English writing instruction. The research involved 643 first-year students enrolled in the ENL-112 course during the second semester of the 2023 academic year. A sample of 130 students was selected through the Simple Random Sampling Technique. Data collection utilized a rating scale and an open- ended questionnaire, covering demographic information, the effects of AI tools on English essay writing, and student opinions and suggestions. Analysis techniques included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. Results revealed students’ highest agreement levels in Educational Impact, followed by the Effectiveness of AI Tools in English Essay Writing, User Experience, and Usage Problems. Additionally, students provided diverse opinions and suggestions, with positive feedback from 18 students (13.85%), negative feedback from 10 students (7.69%), and valuable suggestions from 15 students (11.54%).
